K9 Rony died due to an injury that was caused while pursuing a subject of a stolen car on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
K9 Rony served with the Houston Police Department for 7 years.
"As you can imagine the handler is very attached to this dog. It was tough to watch him say goodbye to his canine partner but the dog went out the way, as he said, the way he'd want to go out, which is capturing a suspect," said Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.
Through the sales of K9 Paw Bracelets, a total of $1,0111.84 was raised. The donation was made to the Vested Interest in K9's, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of Law Enforcement and related agencies throughout the country.
Rest in peace, K9 Rony. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Hi, Rony….You don’t know me but I’ve heard about you so I thought I’d tell you a few things. First, I know your daddy misses and loves you very deeply and though he will go on, he will never get over you. He will never stop missing you, not even for a day. You see, some people think, “he was just a dog”….but they are wrong, terribly wrong! You are a HERO, you were brave, obedient, strong, loving, kind, playful and had more balls than all the uneducated people that say that. You did a job that most humans fear to tread! And for that, I’m proud of you! I didn’t know you, Rony but I love you! I will be praying for your daddy and for all brave LEO’s like you!! Bye for now, handsome Rony! ~Someone Who Understands
