Deputy Sheriff Killed in Ambush Shooting
On this solemn New Year's Eve, our hearts bleed blue for the family of Deputy Sheriff Zackari Parrish, killed this morning in a senseless, ambush shooting. We wish the four other deputies and two civilians that were wounded a fast recovery. Deputy Sheriff Zackari Parrish responded to a disturbance call and was killed in an ambush shooting on the morning of December 31, 2017. The shooter barricaded himself inside a bedroom and opened fire. Three other deputies and two citizens were also wounded in the shootout.
Deputy Parrish is survived by his wife, Gracie, and two young daughters. He served with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for seven months. He previously served with the Castle Rock Police Department for two years.
The Give Blue Fundraiser set up in his memory received an overwhelming response. Thousands of supporters took part in the fundraiser and gave their condolences and testimonies to honor this hero's legacy. We send our deepest thanks to all of the participants that continue to wear their Thin Blue Line Bracelet in honor of Deputy Parrish.

A total donation of $26,140.12 was made to the Douglas County Fallen Officer Fund. The donation will continue the dedicated service Deputy Parrish gave to his community. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
