Remembering Lieutenant Steven Floyd | Give Blue | $18,953 Donated

Dover, DE – Last month, our nation lost Lieutenant Steven Floyd after a 20-hour hostage situation at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, Delaware. Lieutenant Floyd was an incredible man that performed his national duty with the utmost honor and respect.

On February 3rd, 2017, Thin Blue Line USA began a campaign to help support the family and memory of Lt. Floyd. We witnessed an unprecedented outpouring of love from supporters across the country. Everyone that contributed to the cause received a Thin Silver Line Bracelet; a memento that shows your support for the thankless work our correctional officers carry out every day.

Lieutenant Floyd was a hero before he gave his life to ensure the safety of his fellow officers. He was a hardworking family man, a loving grandfather, and a devoted husband. Lieutenant Floyd often worked overtime to help pay for the college education of his children. His selfless attitude has inspired all of us at Thin Blue Line USA, as well as countless supporters across the nation.

Thin Blue Line USA created a memorial video to honor the life of Lieutenant Floyd. Correctional Officer Anthony Gangi filmed tributes and interviews, while also presenting the check, on behalf of Thin Blue Line USA, to the wife and family of Steven Floyd. The positive impact Lieutenant Floyd had on his community is evident throughout the emotional and inspiring stories his fellow officers have to share.

We are honored to announce a total of $18,935 raised for the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware Memorial Fund which will support the family of Lt. Steven Floyd from the Delaware DOC. Thank you to all the supporters across the country for making this possible and showing that our officers, law enforcement and correctional alike, are never alone.

I am very,very happy to see this. Our entire state of Delaware was very stricken and saddened by this horrendous event. This situation should have never happened. What a hero this man was.

Hopefully, the new administration will address what should have been taken care years ago and these Brave Heroes will never again be in such danger. These officers put forth an admirable effort in the performance of their duties. They deserve and need the support of both the administration and the citizens of the state of Delaware.
Let us keep them and Lt. Floyd’s family in our hearts and prayers. And also for the powers that will effect the changes that will keep our COs safe.
