Police officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli were shot and killed when they responded to a 911 hangup call on February 10, 2018.

Officer Joering served with the Westerville Division of Police for 17 years and is survived by his wife, 4 daughters, and his K-9 partner, Sam.

Officer Morelli served for 29 years and is survived by his wife and two children.

Our Give Blue fundraiser was set up in their memory. An outpouring of supporters showed what their service meant to them. Thousands of people took part in the fundraiser and spread news of their sacrifice over social media. We send our deepest thanks to everyone that participated and continues to wear their Thin Blue Line Bracelet in honor of Officer Joering and Officer Morelli.

“These were two of the best we had,” the chief said. “This was their calling, and they did it right.” He called the officers “true American heroes.” - Chief of Police Joe Morbitzer, The New York Times

A total donation of $11,737.89 was donated to the to the FOP #9 Lodge to directly support the respective families. The donation will continue to honor the bravery and sacrifice of these two fallen heroes.

God bless you, Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli. May you rest in peace.
